40 DAYS OF PRAYER

During Lent this year the church here at St.Barnabas has been called by the leadership to seek God in prayer both individually and corporately, to pray specifically for those who are sick and seriously ill in Canford Parish. We are also praying for the proposed church extension and seeking Gods will on the project. We are praying positively for

'Just one touch from the King' which can change everything. We are meeting every Monday from 6.45 - 7.45 p.m.

THE BRIDGE

Sunday 28th October 2007 was a very special day as the new 'Bridge Youth Centre' opened up at the community centre next door to the church. This new facility is part of the community centre building but has been designated as an area to be used for young peoples work. The brownies and Rainbows groups will be using the centre but the facility will be used mainly by the St.Barnabas youth team for their work with young people. A lot of hard work has gone into preparing this area for youth work. Grants have been applied for and given for brand new equipment, new flooring, a complete new makeover with paint, and it is looking great. Lol Scott-Farnell and her team have done a brilliant job and the opening of the centre on Sunday was done by Geoff the Vicar and David Brown one of Bearwoods local councillers. They were acting in their capacity as Chair and Vice Chair of Bearwood Young Peoples Centre Committe who handed over a cheque for £3000.

25 years of Sowing and Reaping

This year marks 25 years since the church was opened up for worship. It was the vision and committment both prayerfully and financially of the people of Canford parish church and the Lantern that led to the building of Bearwood Church Centre, now known as St.Barnabas.

Our Harvest celebration weekend on October 6-7th was a great success, the church was packed for a celebration meal, and on the Sunday an All Age Harvest service, we looked back at the past and looked forward to the future. A number of guests joined us including old members of the church and the Local M.P. Annette Brooke.

A new Alpha course will be starting at St Barnabas in April.

The Alpha Course is a great way of sitting in a small group and asking the questions you have always wanted to ask about the Christian faith. If you have dismissed the Christian faith without asking why Christians believe what they believe, then you are missing out on discovering the Meaning of Life.

Please consider joining a course in the Spring whether it is with us or at another church.
