Dear Friends
We live in an age where every thought and opinion of celebrities is highlighted, unpacked, discussed and analysed. As we read and listen to their opinions and advice, or completely ignore and never ever listen to them we face a bit of a dilemma. Where do we go to for wisdom and instruction?

Interestingly and soberingly most people do not go to the source of all wisdom which is our Father God. I love the Book of Proverbs in the Old Testament as it is packed with relevant and punchy wisdom, here are a few nuggets from its pages.

The way of a fool seems right to him, but the wise man listens to advice. Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Have you ever read the Bible?

Yes of course you have! You come along to church don’t you?

Friends there are millions of people who have stepped over the threshold of a church but do not know anything about the Bible. There has never been a time in history when the Bible has been so available, but there has never been a time when it’s wisdom has been put to one side and ignored.

Here at St. B’s we place a great emphasis on opening up the scriptures to try and understand what God has said, and what God is saying to us through these pages.

Does that mean that we all know everything about the Bible. No it does not which is why we are running the Bible Society’s new course ‘The Bible Course’ to continue to help us all to understand it’s makeup and its contents.

There is information available in the church about the course. We are running it during Lent on Tuesday mornings at 10.15 am and Sunday evenings at 6pm.

Its content is 1000s of years old but you will find without doubt that it is still as relevant as it ever was. Why don’t you join us on either of these two days.
